Physical Education

Participation in Physical Education and sport is an important part of the educational journey at Knox Gardens. We provide opportunity for all students to participate in a variety of sports and experiences. These experiences are not only celebrated but also considered essential to the overall growth of our students.

Our Physical Education Program assists students in learning the value of activity for health, recreation, social interaction, and more. Some of our key goals in PE include developing essential fundamental motor skills, participating positively in a cooperative environment, promoting physical fitness, developing sportsmanship, creating new relationships, providing exciting experiences for all children and most importantly having fun in sport while learning.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports at not only a school level but a District, Divisional, Regional and State level. We run a whole school Athletics Day each year as well as a House Cross Country event. Some of the sports we offer at a District Level are Football, Soccer, Netball, T-Ball, Softball, Tennis, Cricket, Volleyball, Rounders, Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country and Basketball. Each year, all students in years 5 and 6 participate in Hoop Time, which is a one day basketball round robin tournament.

To ensure our students are equipped with the skills of safe cycling and road rules, our students in Years 5 and 6 complete a Bike Safety Program which includes a bike ride to Jells Park and a BBQ lunch at the conclusion of the program in Year 6.

In addition to this, the school offers a 10-day Intensive Swimming Program for all students in Foundation to Year 4. This is conducted by instructors at Aquanation in Ringwood. A Water Safe Program is organised for our senior school students each year. Swimming and Water Safety is an integral part of our curriculum and there is an expectation that every child will attend.
