Respectful Relationships
Respectful Relationships Education is taught at Knox Gardens as part of the Victorian Curriculum. Respectful Relationships is an initiative to support, promote and model respect and equality. It also supports educators to teach our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence. The Victorian Government is supporting schools to model respectful relationships across the whole school community as part of its commitment to Respectful Relationships education.
Knox Gardens Primary School is committed to developing students’ personal and social capabilities by implementing the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program. In the classroom students learn to recognise and regulate emotions, develop empathy for others and establish and build a framework for positive relationships. Students also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to strengthen their sense of self, and build and manage safe and respectful relationships.
When children build positive relationships with their teachers and peers, they feel safer and happier at school, are more resilient and have positive social attitudes. Positive relationships also increase a child’s sense of connectedness and belonging which can result in better health and academic outcomes.
