Buddy Program  

The Buddy Program at Knox Gardens Primary School provides students with opportunities to build positive relationships across year levels and strengthen their sense of connection and belonging within our school community. Students are paired with a younger buddy, creating opportunities for older and younger students to learn from and support one another. 

Our Year 6 students are partnered with Prep students, while Year 5 students are partnered with Year 1 students. Throughout the year, buddy classes come together for a range of shared experiences and activities, providing students with opportunities to build friendships and develop connections across the school. 

The Buddy Program supports students to develop important social skills, confidence, empathy and communication skills. Older students have the opportunity to develop leadership and responsibility, while younger students benefit from positive connections with older students who can provide encouragement, support and a familiar face around the school. 

Building connections across year levels helps students feel welcomed, connected and part of our school community, while creating positive relationships that students can look forward to throughout the year.
